At Emera Utility Services, health, safety and the environment are our top priorities. Our employees and management team have developed a safety and environmental protection culture that permeates every project we undertake.
EUS’s goal is to provide the highest practical standards of health and safety in order to reduce or eliminate work place injuries and illness. We are also committed to conducting business in a manner that is respectful of the environment and in full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
EUS has a Safety and Environment and Training Team consisting of highly trained safety and environmental professionals. They ensure all required certifications are maintained and up-to-date, and all job sites are in compliance with federal, provincial and municipal safety regulations. This is achieved through auditing of risk assessments, tailboard talks and monthly safety meetings. The Safety and Training Team work with both our crews and customers.
EUS also has a Health and Safety Committee made up of representatives from various departments within the company. The Safety and Training Team regularly holds meetings with members of the Health & Safety Committee to discuss any concerns.
All employees of EUS are required to read and abide by the Emera Utility Services Health and Safety Manual. In addition to the rules and Safe Work Practices in the manual, employees must also adhere to federal, provincial and municipal safety regulations.
